MY LOCKDOWN
THE BLOG, SPOTIFY & NETFLIX
Back at the beginning of 2020 I don’t think there was many of us who knew what was to come. Even leading up to the lockdown there was plenty of talk that there would just be a few restrictions imposed and that would be that.
4 MONTHS TO DO THE STUFF I ALWAYS CLAIMED NEVER TO HAVE TIME FOR!
The lockdown would change the way we live and work significantly for the short term but also for good. The world has experienced quite a few pandemics in recent years but nothing of the magnitude of the Coronavirus. It is something most of us have only seen in movies and video games so it was bizarre to see the world all but closed for a few months.
MAKING THE MOST OF A BAD SITUATION
I always believe that it’s up to us what we make of a bad situation. Yes, we can get stuck in a rut watching Netflix and eating an entire packet of cookies for breakfast (I’ve been there). But it gave the majority of us the time to do things we wouldn’t have initially seen as a priority.
THE BLOG
I’ve been trying for years to get this blog up and running. The design wasn’t the problem but rather the content. I only kept a travel diary up to a certain point and then stopped (huge regret). So the only option I had was to go through my 40,000 photos in order to help jog my memory and write something about each destination – could you imagine anything worse!
Every day for 16 weeks, Monday to Sunday from 10am to 2am I would be sat on the same seat typing about everything and anything and that was even after 2 years of evenings and weekends of the same! It was arduous and without the lockdown I just wouldn’t have found the time. An absolute blessing in disguise!

OCD
Yes, I could have just forgot about those destinations but it wouldn’t have felt right when launching the blog as most of the destinations would have had no content. And if any of you know me, you’ll know when I tend to do something it needs to be perfect otherwise I’m never truly happy with it.
It’s now getting into September and the job is still only half done. I am now able to think about adding those articles to the blog which although might take as long, will be much less of a challenge.
NETFLIX, SPOTIFY AND NO GYM
To give you an idea how much time my blog has taken, up until now I have never watched a show on Netflix or listened to a song on Spotify! But since turning the corner and seeing light at the end of the tunnel I was glad to finally be able to take part in conversations about Carole Fucking Baskin…what a shitshow that was by the way, please don’t waste your time!
As someone who usually goes to the gym everyday, I also knocked that on the head for a few months just to make every second count! The gains have long gone and the brain food I’ve been eating leaves a lot to be desired for! 🍪🍫🍦🥩

FINAL THOUGHTS
So as they say the next time life gives you lemons, take them by the bucketload and make some lemonade!
