MAURITIUS, DAY 5
A day at Champ de Mars. Horse racing is one of the most popular sports here. Every week, people flock to attend events at The Champ de Mars, the nation’s race course. Moreover, this tradition brings together enthusiasts from all walks of life, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
CROWN LODGE
We signed up to get access to the Crown Lodge, which took all of the hassle out of organizing. Additionally, they included everything from transport to drinks and food. However, the food left little to be desired, so I would suggest you eat before you leave the hotel!
TURF CLUB
The other huge benefit of getting access to the Turf Club is having the best view in the house without having to move an inch for food or drink. Furthermore, one thing you will want to check out is the parade ring, and Turf Club attendees have permitted access.
Just be sure to be suitably dressed. This part of the track is very formal, and people here like to go all out, wearing a jacket and trousers for men or a dress for women. Additionally, adhering to the dress code enhances the overall experience and ensures you fit in with the elegant atmosphere.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Having been attended most of the best horse racing events at home its safe to say Mauritius can all but compete, despite its size. Read my full reflection post here
