HANOI
Buying bikes and checking out Hanoi. Last day in Hanoi before heading south. Bought our bikes and the fella was good enough to take me away for a lesson, I wasn’t so confident but hacked it first time which was a surprise, best student ever he said 😎 really looking forward to it now.
VIETNAM IS NOT THE PLACE TO LEARN HOW TO RIDE A BIKE
Phil handed me a leaflet that said ‘Vietnam is not the place to learn how to ride a bike’ 😂 taking the bus as there isn’t much from here to Hue and we’ve wasted enough time waiting for my bag!
WHERE IS HANOI?
Hanoi
HO CHI MINH MAUSOLEUM
Went to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum which was fascinating, the queue was about 300metres and we considered just leaving it but glad we didn’t. It is the resting place for the Vietnamese Revolutionary leader & President, Ho Chi Minh. Who considering how long he has been there is in great shape! After it was off to the prison where we bumped into Reece and Clare from the castaway trip, two sound people! She’s amazing as Reece just spent the entire time with us on the boat! Met up with with everyone (our rowdy group from the castaway trip) for a bite before everyone clears off. It was all fairly quiet as the Swedish guys had a bus at 7pm so there was little temptation to stay on the drink.
BAGGAGE UPDATE
Again my bag didn’t arrive and we are off to Hue tonight so they are to send it to Da Nang airport which isn’t far but they are completely useless and I’m losing hope!
NEXT UP
Two mates, taking motorbikes down the coast of Vietnam, this is where to adventure really begins. After crashing twice into locals we make it to Hue and end up getting treated like royalty by a family of locals. Click to read.
