DAY 11&12 KIWI EXPERIENCE
FRANZ JOSEF
I have been emailing Skydive Franz for the last few weeks hoping the weather is good enough. It’s one the highest skydives in the world (19,000ft) unless you want to pay £25k to jump from Everest. Got there and it was the same as everywhere else we had been, overcast and the odd bit of rain. Everyone else had signed up to do the glacier helicopter trip but there isn’t much chance of that either, they have been cancelled for the last 5days.

RUMOURS
Big night tonight as its a double nighter there are 2 kiwi buses here, and 5 other tour buses staying at the same place, good to see some of the people you know from the bus in front and the place is known to be a big party night. Spoke to a fella (Scott), says he’s been hearing rumours about a certain Irish Dave, no idea who he could be talking about.

FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER
Same story for the weather on our second day at franz josef so we decided if we couldn’t get on it to try and at least see the glacier. There’s a 1hour walk that leads you pretty close to it which was good and makes a change from sitting inside looking at the rain.

Pizza night tonight, which is unlimited pizza for $18. Half the people there brought plastic bags and started to store pizza for tomorrow’s lunch. Myself and Justin didn’t believe it would be unlimited so we put ourselves in a food coma with the amount of slices we knocked back. Another night drinking.
FINAL THOUGHTS
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what we all get up to when the rain comes on. Franz Josef had to potential to be really good but it just didn’t work out this time. The hostel was fantastic and another great night to socialise.
NEXT UP
Lake Wanaka tomorrow where the sun has decided to come out and play so I’ll go and sprain my foot! Click to read.
