THE KRAKOW SERIES PT1
KRAKOW, POLAND
I had planned to visit Krakow for a while and had done by best to avoid it during The Buda & Soviet Series but we had decided to do it as a family.
IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE FOOD, YOU’LL LOVE THE VODKA
There was so much to see here and I knew it would appeal to all of us. Not to mention its perfect for a weekend break.
WHERE IS KRAKOW?

COPERNICUS
We stayed at the Copernicus which was ideal. Great food, great service and great location. Saying that, when you step outside the front of the hotel you would think you were a million miles from one of the busiest central squares in Europe. It has to be on one of the quietest streets in the city centre.
WINTER
Krakow’s weather varies incredibly. In the summer it can get incredibly hot and in winter it normally stays well below zero. If you are going along the same time, be sure to bring layers, a pair of jeans and a coat doesn’t cut it here!
FOOD TOUR
Polish food is very different to what you get anywhere else but if you don’t know what you are ordering then it can become a bit of a minefield. A good option when in any new city is the get a food tour organised so you are familiar with what to order and what to avoid for the rest of your trip. I arranged our tour through Escape2Poland. We had everything from Pierogis (Polish dumplings) & Cabbage Roll to Potato soup & Polish pancakes of course. The tour lasted 4 hours and ended with a number of shots of Polish vodka.

WALKING TOUR
The walking tour was also part of the same package and was a good way to get our bearings for the next few days. We visited sites such as the Barbican, market square and the iconic Royal Castle and Cathedral. Krakow is very easy on the eye and with it’s attractions aside I can see why so many people are drawn to it.
MAIN SQUARE
After a day walking and eating our way through the streets of Krakow we took to the bars on the main square for a few polish beers before dinner. The entire trip was all about tomorrow activities!
