A modern country coming into its own, steeped in the resilience of history
Dzień dobry, welcome to Poland! This is a country that has never been done justice in the travel stakes. Even now, when flights to Warsaw or Krakow are cheap and plentiful they tend to be swarmed by stag-dos rather than culture vultures. Warsaw has a huge amount to offer, from the soviet-era Palace of Culture to Wilanow Palace’s grandeur, sat in a beautiful park on the city’s outskirts. Plus, the city’s nightlife has long been up and coming and you’ll find a show or a club night to get your blood flowing on the coldest of winter nights. Add to that a thriving modern art scene (the Museum of Modern Art is particularly fantastic) and I can’t imagine what could keep city lovers away! If you want a slower pace, then head to Gdansk, an old port city of painted houses and cobblestones, it’s perfect for a romantic break. Of course, Poland hasn’t forgotten its history, and plenty of tourists come to visit Auschwitz and Dachau, but while you’re in the country why not also celebrate the now? If you want Baltic Beaches in the summertime, and snowy hikes all winter, and you like some stick-to-your-ribs dumplings at dinner time, then VISIT POLAND!
