5,000 foot peaks meets ancient forts

Assalom, welcome to Tajikistan. This landlocked Asian country, bordered by China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, is rugged and mountainous, with peaks close to the capital of Dushanbe reaching an impressive 5,000 metres. Hikers and climbers are some of the only regular visitors to this rough and ready nation, though there is also excellent birdwatching around Iskanderkel. Towns and villages are sprinkled among the mountains, where the seasons can be harsh. But the winter weather might just be worth it for the impossible blue and green lakes and the glaciers that surround them – these views are world class. If you don’t mind rough conditions and locals with a tough exterior, and you want a high altitude adventure, then VISIT TAJIKISTAN!
