A Chinese imperialist yoke meets a beautiful nation of islands

Ni Hao, welcome to Chinese Taipei, it may be more familiar to you as Taiwan. The country is rich in natural beauty, and the mountains are criss crossed with hiking trails from colonial times that are still very walkable. Taipei is, of course, a towering modern city, and yet ancient traditions of Buddhism are still very important here, with festivals observed year-round and 15,000 temples on the islands you can watch a plague boat burn one day and go on a pilgrimage the next. Food is also important, and everyone you meet will ask you, ‘Have you eaten?’ You needn’t go hungry in Taiwan, whether it’s wild boar or milkfish you’re eating to fill up. If you want to see deep gorges and temples rich with gold leaf, and make friends whilst you do so, then VISIT TAIWAN!
