Travelling by calm water meets a mega-city capital

Assalamu alaikum, and welcome to Bangladesh. This is a country of coastline and rivers, fertile groves and deep mangrove forest. Travel by boat is common, and it’s also a fantastic way to see the country. Bangladesh is home to several Unesco heritage sites, some of which are pretty off the beaten track, including Buddhist remains at Parhapur and some fascinating 15th Century mausoleums. Tourism is still an up and coming industry in Bangladesh, with unstable politics repeatedly marring attempts to get more visitors in, but that could be to your advantage. Locals are welcoming, and despite tigers, temples and excellent museums and mosques in the capital of Dhaka, you might barely see another tourist. If you want to see ancient architecture, and maybe some tigers too, then VISIT BANGLADESH!
