Mussels, chocolate and the world’s best beer meets the classic adventures of Tintin

Bonjour, and Willkommen. Belgium is one of a few European countries with several national languages, and that was just two of them. Welcome! Not just about chocolate (though it is important…) Belgium has plenty to offer. Brugge and Antwerp are big destinations for city slickers, with Bruge in third. It’s a country of great beer, which is surprisingly strong. You have been warned! In Bruge, especially, architecture is also a draw. Neo-gothic facades are particularly popular, reflected wonderfully in the river. One of Belgium’s less expected treasure, though, is the Carnaval de Binche. The carnival is UNESCO listed, and features Giles — strange male figures padded with straw and wearing, what else? Clogs of course!
