Rugged mountains meet lakeside resorts
Salam, and welcome to Kyrgyzstan, also known as the Kyrgyz Republic. There’s one main reason to travel here: the mountains. This part of central Asia is about as rugged as anywhere on earth, with glaciers and glacial lakes to boot. It’s best practice to hire a local guide, and camping is possible through the milder months, especially in Osh and around Karaikal. A little less expected are the resort-style towns on lake Issyk-kul, and the fledgling ski industry on some of the slopes. Basically, if you want to be surprised by central asia, whether you prefer water sports or snow you’d better VISIT THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC!
