BEAUTIFUL RAILAY BEACH

Staying at Ao Nang beach which is the main beach area of Krabi, a little like Patong in Phuket.  Had a few people recommend Railay Beach so going there for sunset. Before everything was widely spoke about on the internet and the secret out the only eay to find out about places like these was word of mouth. Its getting nearly impossible to find altenrative experiences these days.

THESE STEPS ARE NO ORDINARY STEPS!

WHERE IS RAILEY BEACH?

RAILAY BEACH

The only way to get there is by boat (15mins) and as usual we left it so late as the taxi boat doesn’t leave until it’s full. Got a full 15mins on the Railay beach before it set but to be honest was well worth it.

We thought we were late until the boat made a drop off at a beach where the sun had already gone, so we we were luckier than some. Next up was Railay Beach, not the quietest beach but quiet by Thai standards! It is stunning and if I had known it was as nice on the eye as it was then I would have made an effort to come back. Krabi Tip; Turns out there’s accommodation on the island, if i’d known this I would have stayed here instead of Krabi!

KRABI & RAILAY

  • The only way to get to Railay is by boat
  • One of my favourite beaches
  • Can get busy during peak season

TIGER TEMPLE

Next day we rented bikes (again). Honestly the best way to get about the island. Went to Tiger Temple which is nothing to do with tigers. It’s a 1200 step staircase up to the top of a mountain where some monk used to ask for forgiveness. Me and Carlos thought it would be a good idea to get up there and do the same after our antics over the last 6 weeks!

I enjoyed the walk as I haven’t done anything in a while but Carlos who has done it before did not want to be there! The stairs are easily a foot high and you’d be surprised how many people do it. The faces you see though are priceless.

Not easy after 6 weeks in Thailand

Then just had a drive around and tried to get lost. It’s a good way to run into random places you might not have found.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Krabi isn’t a bad spot, a quieter version of Phuket which will appeal to some but the real jewell of the crown is Railay Beach. A place everyone who visits the west coast much visit for a few nights

NEXT UP

Got an overnight bus back to Bangkok for 2 nights and because Carlos is saving as much money as he can he wanted to check into the biggest shithole I’ve seen and that’s saying something. I am yet to find these 5* resorts everyone tells you about that you can stay at for 20p.  Anyway it turned out Hannah I know from Portugal and her pal Lydia are in Bangkok tonight and are on the same flight to India in the morning so it was the obligatory night out in Bangkok.
