THE ASHES
OLD TRAFFORD, MANCHESTER
It’s been 9 years since my first and so far only experience of the ashes and ever since I have been dying to get back. But as per usual my travels got in the way so I won’t complaining.
CRICKET MIGHT NOT BE EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA BUT IT’S ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING DAYS YOU EXPEREINCE
My dad is a big sport fan but more so cricket and rugby so it only made sense that I got him & mum a ticket for one of the tests and with his favourite ground being Lords, we headed to London.

WEATHER
Now the weather plays a part in any sport but with cricket it can bring the game to a halt. Australia don’t have the same problem and you can expect the play every day of every test without an issue. But in England it’s a case of crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.
Let’s just say it didn’t work out terrible well and we managed to see just 25 overs which is just a few hours. The cricket might stop but the drink, food and entertainment doesn’t so we were sure to make the most of being there. Also depending on how much cricket was played will determine how much money you get refunded which made it a little better!
OLD TRAFFORD
After getting 50% of my money back and only getting to see a few hours of cricket I felt dad got the bad end of a deal! My mum was to go away for a weekend and found this to be a perfect opportunity to head to the next test, this time in Manchester. The tickets were bought from a reseller and not cheap but the weather was pretty much guaranteed as I left as late as I could
The seats however were fantastic and right in amongst the diehards. Of course not as loud as the barmy Army but that atmosphere only really happens in Oz when they are all together.

3rd DAY
As it was the 3rd day we didn’t expect to see a result but I can’t stress this enough. Going to the cricket is all about the day out, the atmosphere, having a laugh and drink. It’s the only sport in the world that the result almost comes second. Of course it’s important but if I knew England was going to win and the atmosphere was going to be non-existent I wouldn’t be going. That’s why I was more than happy to shell out the money for the tickets, it’s a full day event, not just a few hours like a football match.

ASHES 2019
We only came for the day but Australia won the test the following day and retained the ashes manly due to the Steve Smith who we couldn’t help but applaud. That’s another benefit of going to one of the earlier days, you might see your team do badly but it’s very unlikely as result will occur until the 3rd or more likely 4th or 5th day.
