ADAM’S PEAK – ELLA
I had missed this morning’s bus to the train station so it meant I would have to sit in a Tuk Tuk for 90mins which would normally make for an uncomfortable but was right up there with the train ride to follow.

I was off to Ella today and this stretch of railway is meant to be one of the best. After yesterday’s train ride it was all I could think of!

THE TRAIN RIDE
Adam’s Peak lies between the popular towns of Kandy and Ella so the train is likely to be popular, however similar to yesterday I was never bothered about getting a seat. A 4 hour train ride takes you through the lush tea plantations, rice fields, and endless mountain views. Not to mention is costs next to nothing!
The tracks have an interesting history as they were originally built in the 1800s by British to transport tea to the capital, and now it has become a tourist phenomenon.

ELLA
My time here was short as it was all about the train journey itself but there was one thing I wanted to see here and that was the 9 Arches Bridge. Also called the Bridge in the Sky, its just a 2 min drive by Tuk Tuk and can make for some of your best photos of the trip. Trains passed regularly when I was there so it meant I was fit to get photos from the bridge and down on the trains as one was passing.

ELLA:
- Climb little Adam’s peak or Ella Rock
- Walk along the Nine Arch Bridge.
- Swim at Diyaluma or Ravana Falls
- Join a cooking class.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I had now finished my train journey through the hills in Sri Lanka and can safely add them to my best ever experiences!
