WHY AM I STARTING A BLOG?
If I’m honest this isn’t the question, I normally get asked but rather, ‘why haven’t you started a blog yet’ is what I get. Some of my favourites, such as Thailand and Australia are pretty generic but when people hear that I’m planning on visiting every country in the world then their interest seems to peak, so this got me thinking, why not share my experiences?
REAL TRAVEL AND LESS INFLATABLE SWANS AND FLOATING BREAKFAST BASKETS
But first and foremost, it’s a diary, every day of my travels I write a post, sometimes it’s interesting and sometimes there isn’t much to share but I wanted somewhere where I could keep it all.
WHY….
- For me to look back on in years to come.
- Accountability, to encourage me to continue to write a daily travel diary.
- To share it with others.
- To help & inspire others to travel.
WHY AM I STARTING A BLOG
I often look back through my journals but it’s a bit of a headache going through the various books that are falling apart or going through your notes app, neither of which have any of my favourite photos I’ve taken. Having a blog makes this so much easier and also helps my OCD to have it all organized and if even one other person wants to read it and possibly take something from it then great it was worth the 3 years of working evening and weekends!

REAL TRAVEL
Blogs are here there and everywhere, there are 100s of millions of them but there are only a few which share experiences in far flung destinations as well as everyone’s favourites, like Thailand and Bali etc. When I search for blogs which encompass real experiences and travel stories, they are now few and far between. It seems most blogs start off that way and then move onto being a resource centre – as it’s an easy way to create a revenue stream, directing more people to their site. I wanted to go back to what blogs were originally, sharing personal tales and anecdotes that might make an interesting read.
WHAT I WANT TO SHOWCASE:
- Show you the harder side of travelling
- The shity Rooms
- Questionable food
- Dirty mattresses
- Unseen adventure
- Toilet dramas
- A some luxury beach travel to help a lot the way
WHAT I WANT TO SHOW LESS OF:
- Generic travel posts
- Floating breakfast baskets (you might still see one)
- Inflatable unicorns
PASSION
You might have noticed there are no ads, quite rare for a blog or any website for that matter and I want to keep it that way. I don’t see this as a revenue stream for me as so far any costs making this have been fully covered by myself. I want to make it clear it’s 100% intrinsic, a passion and not for the money.
FINAL THOUGHTS
So, feel free to have a look around, check what’s on offer and hopefully you’ll find something worth reading. I would be glad to have you join me on this epic journey visiting 229 countries!
