THE CENTRAL AMERICAN SERIES PT2
BAHAMAS
I always try to find at least one thing to do in each country, something unique. The Bahamas isn’t short of options but most of them are generally beach excursions but when a friend showed me a video of them diving with sharks I knew that’s what I would be doing!
THERE WAS AT LEAST 20 – 30 SHARKS ABOVE MY HEAD!
I had been looking forward to this for a while, not sure how I’m going to react to seeing so many face to face for the first time.
WHERE IS THE BAHAMAS?
Diving with sharks in the Bahamas
HURRICANE
I took a walk around the city and towards Paradise Island which was clearly a marketing ploy! The entire Caribbean and most of Central America had just experienced one of the worst hurricanes of the past decade. Unfortunately the island wasn’t in the shape it normally is as the effects were all too obvious.
A few from the same AirBnB have signed up to the same dive which is good so we made our way to Stuart’s Cove on the other side of the island. The drive takes less than an hour and everything is taken care of. Transport, suits, and theres a little café for drink and snacks if you need.
SHARKS
Eventually after everyone was in their place the feeder and sharks came in. The image of the sharks above were incredible. Its something I have seen 100 times on the internet but never in a million years would I expect to see it with my own eyes. 20 – 30 sharks circling overhead really brings the senses out!
Once down on the boat the sharks frequently come into arm’s length, There are just so many that you might get hit by the odd one like I did. Not once did I feel afraid or intimidated, these activities obviously have a certain degree of risk but they just wouldn’t happen if there was a history of problems.

CABLE BEACH
Had a few hours to burn today because my flight is in the evening, so a few of us headed to Cable beach, one of the nicer beaches outside of paradise island.
