THE CENTRAL AMERICAN SERIES PT5
TURKS & CAICOS
I just finished having a great time chilling in the resort country of Turks & Caicos where I spent my time in a hotel beach I paid no money for, thanks to my local contact!
THE ONLY TIME OF MY LIFE I HAD TO CHECK THAT MY LIFE JACKET WAS UNDER MY SEAT!
I was flying from here to Haiti and as you could imagine there aren’t many people who make this trip. The flight ticket was horrendous you couldn’t even see any text on it let alone the destination. It was as close to a Private Jet as you were going to get. Not to mention there was only a few of us, we may as well have chartered it ourselves!
WHERE IS TURKS & CAICOS?
The scariest flight of my life
DAY TO NIGHT
The flight was only short and all started as you would expect until we started to hit some turbulence. Believe it or not a lot of the turbulence you would barely notice but that’s in the likes of a A300 or 747 so it takes very little to push a little jet about.
I remember outside getting so dark it was almost pitch black which made me wonder as it was a morning flight. Then the turbulence went from a level 1 to a 10 within seconds, almost sending my head through the roof. The exact reason why you sit down and wear your seatbelt.
The flight to Turks
CONTINUOUS
At this stage it’s a bit of a shock but nothing I haven’t experienced before and knew it would be over in a few minutes. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and it continued on and slowly I began to think, and wonder. These storms in the Caribbean really do be hitting different compared to anywhere else. There is a huge different being in a tiny plane such as this and I sure felt it. I even had to check for my lifejacket so I was prepared for any sort of landing.
It’s not like me to worry in this case but even the best of you would’ve had the same thoughts. To say it was a relief when I landed would be an understatement!

TURKS & CAICOS
It rained the entire time I was here in Turks apart from the first sunset. Stayed at an AirBnB thanks to Anderson and it wasn’t until a few days before that I realized I booked the wrong day. He’s got a few places and said his spare room which was twice the price as the one I had booked was available. Worked out well as he lived beside all the 5* resorts so I could use their facilities!

FINAL THOUGHTS
I don’t often worry about things that are out of my control but I felt this was as close to something going wrong as I’ve experienced.
