GOODBYE TO THE KIWI EXPERIENCE
DRINKING WITH A TONGAN IN AUCKLAND
Said my last goodbyes to the kiwi bus as my trip only gets me to Christchurch. Heading up to Auckland for a few nights and will catch up with Phil and Aled the English and Welsh lads I was with in koh Tao for Xmas and new year – I can only guess whats going to happen!
NEVER CHALLENGE A TONGAN
Back to Nomads Hostel again and went out to the bar crawl which started off pretty shit. In the 2nd bar we asked (as a joke) the biggest Tongan fella you’d ever seen collecting glasses if he could get us 3 Vodka Sprite and to our surprise he did, without charge! We bought him a jägerbomb as a thank you and he said, ‘yous have started something now.’ We know how the locals like to drink but the 3 of us looked at each other and were happy to take on the challenge.
Auckland. Drinking with a Tongan in Auckland
TOMMY THE TONGAN
So in the next bar he bought us round after round after round. We couldn’t drink them quick enough, and there was no let up! I honestly can’t tell you how many we had to force down our throat. The guy (Tommy) knows absolutely everyone and the bouncer came up to me to throw me out, saying that I had enough. Well if he had a Tongan buying him Jägerbombs he’d be the same.
Anyway I smiled at the bouncer straight away as I new what the outcome was going to be and tapped Tommy on the way out just to tell him this lovely man is throwing me out. Tommy told him otherwise and there was no argument. Got really drunk
MINI GOLF
Took a walk around some event today as Auckland celebrates Auckland day. It was scorching hot. A few of us played mini golf at it and there is a host who talks over the mic and is shown on the screen. Well didn’t he come over to me and have a chat.
It was only when I seen the camera I shat it. Anyway, he asked me to wait until he was live and stood in front of me for what seemed like 10mins to make me sweat then after the chat let me hit the shot before going away and I choked it!haha
FIJI
Booked my Fiji tour for tomorrow, not sure the guy was too happy about me leaving it so late but it’s hard when alcohol gets in the way. Later on I met up with Nathania, a Swiss girl from the kiwi bus, she was heading out with a few friends so i joined them but said I had to leave early as my flight left at 3am. Also met up with Carlos that night to say cheerio. Got drunk, no sleep
FINAL THOUGHTS
What a place New Zealand is! I could go on an list all the things I loved but it would be endless, the Kiwi Experience, the people I met, the activities were all as close to perfect as is possible. Yes the weather wasn’t ideal but it only gets in the way if you allow it. Read the reflection post here.
