THE NORDIC SERIES, DAY 15
ICELAND
The Blue Lagoon, Iceland. After an exhausting 8 days this is our final day as we fly home tonight. After breakfast at The Laundry Room and a visit to Hallgrimskirkja Church views of the city we made our way to the Blue Lagoon.
I WAS CONCERNED IT WAS GOING TO BE A DISAPPOINTING TOURIST TRAP BUT IT WAS FAR FROM IT.
WHERE IS THE BLUE LAGOON?
ORIGINATE
Whether people like the sound of it or not the Blue Lagoon is just something you have to do! Driving up to the Blue lagoon you can see the steam from the power plant from 10km away. It is not commonly known that the water from the Blue Lagoon was actually as a result of a power plant. It was dumped there as part of the process of sourcing energy from the hot springs below the ground.

STUNNING
Walking around you can see why so many people visit, the blue is like nothing you’d ever see, especially beside the dark volcanic rock than surrounds it. Bookings are necessary as we arrived and had to wait a few hours but decided to eat at the Lava restaurant which was very good.

EFFICENT
The shower and changing facilities are excellent and plentiful meaning there is little time wasted. As numbers are restricted you wont ever feel the pools are over-crowded and if you do go to the bar you wont have long to wait.
They also have a contactless payment system by way of a bracelet which also speeds things up but the real fun is in the mud masks. We went for two options and although it isn’t going to take 10 years off my life I felt great after it all.
