I often get asked out of all the places I have visit and all the hotels I have stayed at, which was the best? It’s a really hard call but there is no doubt that the Four Seasons Mauritius Resort is up there alongside the Maldives (you can read about my stay at the best villa in the Maldives) and Botswana. Generally speaking, Mauritius is a resort holiday so there is little need to be near other towns, restaurants and bus routes.

🛌 ROOMS & VILLAS 🛌
The resort is a fair size and offers a number of different options when it comes to accommodation. There are two main types of accommodation which offer a different experience with their location and size. If you prefer a smaller villa at the lagoon then the Lagoon Villas will be your thing. These come with a small pool and can also be found at the beach or mangroves. But if you want a slightly better upgrade then the Villa Sanctuaries will do the job. However if you want to go all out with the family then the 5 bed Royal residence villa will be the one for you. But if that’s not enough then The Presidential Sanctuary with it’s own butler and pool should tick your box!

🍽 RESTAURANTS 🍽
Being a resort, there are a number of great restaurants and dining choices available throughout the day. This variety is fantastic as it allows you to enjoy different settings and atmospheres, giving you a refreshing change of scenery instead of visiting the same place 2 or 3 times during your stay.
BEAU CHAMP
A French-style restaurant, Beau Champ is where we often enjoyed breakfast. It features an impressive open kitchen where you can order their fresh fish specialties while sitting at the water’s edge, watching the fish swim and circle beneath you.
BAMBOU
Located at the main pool, Bambou is where ther majority of the resorts events take place. From it’s themed BBQs to the fire show, the place is certainly one for the families.
ACQUAPAZZA
Acquapazza, located right at the water’s edge, is the perfect Italian restaurant if Italian cuisine tickles your fancy. Beyond their delicious pizza and pasta, there’s also a wide selection of fresh meat and fish dishes to choose from.
LA PLAZ BEACH GRILL
La Plaz Beach Grill is the newest eatery at the resort and a great spot to grab a bite while enjoying the beach. The menu focuses mainly on fresh fish and meat, but there are also a variety of vegetarian options available.
O BAR
A relaxed bar with small bites on offer, the O Bar is perfect for enjoying an evening cocktail or a light snack before heading off to your chosen restaurant.

🥐 BREAKFAST 🥐
Most mornings we had breakfast at Beau Champ (once at Acuapazza) and even I couldn’t fault it. From an array of hot food made to order to a buffet of fresh fruit. There is something for to suit us all. Even my thirst for freshly made pancakes and Nutella was satisfied! And we haven’t even mentioned the refrigerator room where all the cold meats are kept. Even the fussied of eaters will be pleasantly surprised!

FACILITIES
🍸 BARS 🍸
Apart from the restaurants which you need to eat at, the only bars available for drinks is the O Bar and the Beach Grill, both of which offer something completely different. The beach grill is perfect for a beer or a cocktail while on the beach and the O Bar is a perfect place for pre dinner cocktails or cigar with views over the lagoon. Don’t expect too much atmosphere at either, this place is generally more of a laidback affair.
🏊🏻♂️ POOL 🏊🏻♂️
Like most rooms our Ocean Villa had it’s own Pool and access right onto one of the beaches which turned out to be a great choice. Originally I couldn’t deicde where to stay but when we had those few precious hours to waste it was spent on the beach.
The main pool was only 2 minutes walk which is an ideal place for families and kids as the villa pools are just that little bit too small.
💆🏻♀️ SPA 💆🏻♀️
Part and partial of any resort in the usual Spa and Massage facilities. Like most of the facilities, the spa is located on the main island but remains central to all the rooms. Almost every kind of treatment is offered here and although it will be expensive you can expect real quality.

Going by other resorts I have stayed at, the gym here was great. There was a free-weights room, outdoor pool, boxing area, tennis courts and countless classes if you’re worried about all those extra calories.
👶🏻 KID’S FACILITIES 👶🏻
Kids groups and babysitters are available here like most resorts. Swimming classes, cycling tours and tennis clubs are all available on a daily basis which will allow you to get that much needed peace and quiet you came here for.
💻 WIFI 💻
Wifi is available throughout the resort. I even found myself having access at the pool and beach which was great and saved me having to get a local sim or sit in the room!

ACTIVITIES
⛳️ GOLF ⛳️
The Four Seasons is one of the few resorts in Mauritius which includes a golf course and a good one at that. We played it on our 3rd day and although I played as bad as I ever have, it was still a pleasure. Not often can you play golf and be surrounded by such exotic landscape.
🍲 COOKERY SCHOOL 🍲
If you are anything like me and enjoy Indian, Asian and European cuisine then you will absolutely love the fusion Mauritian food offers. It’s one thing going to a resturants but I always find the cooking classes anther level beyond that and this was no different.
🤿 DIVING 🤿
Believe it or now, diving is weather depend, which sounds a bit strange at you are under the water most of the time. But unfortunately, we didn’t have much luck the first few days but from the research I done prior to my visit it was at the top of my list. There is a dive shop on the resort which looks after everything dive related, from your transport and boat to your scuba gear.

If there are any other activities or excursions you like the sound of, the resort can take all of the hassle away from you. We hiked Le Morne, took a Catamaran around the island and went to the famous champ Le Mauritius Turf Club to watch the horse racing. All of which was arranged before we arrived!

Although the resort is a fair size, bikes are available to all guests free of charge and is a great way to get around and check out the resort. If you don’t see yourself as much of a cycler then a quick call to the reception should see a golf buggy at your door in no time.

💰 PRICE 💰
It’s wont be a cheap holiday but in terms of value for money its great. As you can see from the list above the resort pretty much has it all and most of which are included the in the price – bar the additional activities.

Staff at the Four Seasons Anahita can never seem to do enough for you. Look the other way for just a few seconds and you’ll notice your villa cleaned from top to bottom! One thing I would say is

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you are planning a visit to Mauritius, you won’t be short of options resorts line the coasts and cater to different budgets. I haven’t visited them all, but I can vouch that if you choose to stay at the Four Seasons Mauritius Resort, you won’t be disappointed.
