COMPLETE PACKING GUIDE FOR THE FAROE ISLANDS
The Faroes Islands is a special destination and there’s as much thought required for what to pack than there is for what to do.
Through the year the weather can be very temperamental so it’s important to pack for all eventuality’s whether that be rain, snow, wind and the sun. There’s a chance you might see all of these in one day!
BACKPACK / SUITCASE
If you plan to take a camera, drone, laptop as well as winter clothes you are better off going for a large suitcase. However, if you see yourself camping or carrying your belongings then a backpack. I choose a small backpack for my hikes and a suitcase to take all my gear.

- Easy access for the camera
- Secure and easy access for wallet and phone
- Water proof or resistant with a cover
CLOTHES
It’s all about layers layers layers here. Generally the Faroes can be cold but with amount of hiking you should be doing your will be hot and cold and everything in between. This just gives you the ability to control your temperature with the many layers.
- Beanie
- Gloves
- Scarf or Snood
- Wind resistant & waterproof jacket
- Waterproof bottoms
- Walking shoes or boots which are waterproof
- Spare layers
ACCESSORIES:
It’s not just clothes that are important here but with the varying weather it’s important to protect it from the elements, not to mention to make sure you have all the relative supplies for hiking.
- Secondary backpack
- Sunscreen
- Moisturiser
- Lip balm
- 2L water bottle
- Food and snacks
- Cash. Danish. Faroese Krone
- Drivers licence / international licence if needs be

FINAL THOUGHTS
Going to the Faroes will absolutely be a trip of a lifetime, just make sure not to forget anything. Buying a replacement camera or a waterproof jacket isn’t the easiest thing on an isolated island!
