THE STORY SO FAR, WHERE HAVE I BEEN…
Where have I been, the story so far… I always keep track of the number of countries I have visited but I would be lying if I told you that it was always right. There is always the rogue country sitting in there somewhere but now after going over it what seems like a million times I am sure this is the current up to date list and will help to answer all those, have you been to India/Pakistan questions.
I have no idea why I get asked that question all the time but if it helps, “I haven’t been to Pakistan but have been to India and plan to revisit.” Actually, they are two countries I cant wait to go. Now back to it.
You are probably wondering where 229 came from but there is good reason and probably worth its own post altogether so I will leave that for another time. Let’s just say I couldn’t agree with the UN list in the slightest and there are countries out there I feel were due their own recognition for a number of reasons. So the number is obviously a lot more but on the bright side it makes my trips that little bit longer!
WHEN DID IT START
I have been travelling on and off since 2008, during my first trip to the U.S. and Canada and when I really developed a passion for it. However, visiting every country didn’t really start until around 2016 and the seed was officially planted in New Zealand when I spoke with friends about their own travel plans. We were comparing how many countries we had visited, there was no bragging, infact from the sounds of it no one had actually counted them before and I was shocked when I done the maths and realised how low mine was considering the amount of travelling I had done.
From there I made a conscious effort to visit new countries when I could and see what new experiences I could have as a result of it.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE
Who knows now that Covid is likely here to stay, but I would love to be done in 5 years but it’s looking to be closer to 10. To be honest I wouldn’t want this hanging over me well into my 50s . Don’t get me wrong I love the journey and the stress it puts me under but it’s a huge amount of work and even more amount of money so I will be happy to finish and head back to all those countries I have wanted to revisit!
