THE AZORES SERIES, DAY 1

BELFAST – DUBLIN

At the start of COVID I only imagined the impact on travel to last a few weeks or a couple of months at the most! But 18months on and we are still here, so I needed some sort of last minute trip without having the jump through the hoops one has to these days.

NO NEW COUNTRIES IN 16 MONTHS

Heading to Portugal is one of the easier options and as the Azores offers a completely different experience to that of the mainland it made a lot of sense to head there! The Azores (like everywhere) has always been on the list but as I don’t consider it as a separate country, I wasn’t in any rush to visit but now was a perfect opportunity.

DAILY INFO….

  • HOTEL – Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Dublin. 7.5/10. £100

EARLY FLIGHT

“Back in the day” a 1a.m. bus and a 5a.m. flight from Dublin wouldn’t have bothered me but as my trips are become more and more intense I can’t afford any temptation of a nap during the day, so staying at the Radisson airport hotel was a good way to max out as much as possible on rest.

DAILY TRAVEL STATS….

  • Steps – 3,800
  • Miles covered – 105 mi

FINAL THOUGHTS

It might not be a new country but it’s great to be on the road again!
