THE NORDIC SERIES, DAY 2
GREENLAND
The most scenic commerical flight in the world? I’ve gotten used to 6am wake-up calls on holiday. It’s better not to travel during the day to save time for exploration.
TO GET AN IDEA OF THE SIZE OF THIS TOWN, THE LOCAL PUB AND RESTO IS LOCATED INSIDE THE AIRPORT
I visited Greenland before and was blown away by the unique view from the plane. Only one flight, to Greenland, takes you over an Ice Sheet with snow and ice as far as the eye can see.
WHERE IS GREENLAND?
WINDOW SEAT
For this flight, I booked a window seat away from the wings, and it didn’t disappoint. As we neared the mainland after flying over the ocean, more icebergs appeared, followed by a horizon-wide sheet of ice.

POLAR LODGE
I got lost finding the airport exit but checked into The Polar Lodge, conveniently next to my hotel and the plane.
Unless you have a tour booked, there’s not much to do. Tours are scheduled for Wednesday, and I hope to see the Northern Lights. I checked the town this afternoon. There isn’t much to see, but it’s properly cold with lows of -12°C, so layers are essential!
