GUAM
THE PHILIPPINES SERIES PT14
After visit the two best spots in the Philippines, El Nido and Coron, I stayed for a few days in Manila to chill.
YOU’VE GOT TO LOVE THE ISLANDERS!
I’ll admit its not the best place to relax but I almost enjoy how chaotic it is, a bit like Bangkok.
WHERE IS GUAM?
Enjoying the beaches of Guam
GUAM
Not heard a lot about this place but it’s relatively close to the Philippines. I remember playing a guy at pool and him saying he was from there so ever since I wanted to go! Funny how seeds are planted. Prices of flights can be ridiculous however as it’s not the easiest place to get to. The original plan was to go to Palau but I would’ve had to have stayed for a week as flights are so rare!
CHILL DAYS
My flight arrived in at 5a.m. and I checked into the Days Inn. This brought me back to my motel days when I travelled around the U.S – strange memories as I was held at gunpoint, broke my hand, got robbed and watched my friend almost get killed. It was decent location and the cheapest I could find. Only stayed for 3 days which was enough as it isn’t the cheapest of places I have been and very westernised.
FRIENDLY ISLANDERS OF GUAM
After dropping my bags off I headed straight to the beach, found a quiet spot and slept. Turns out it was a private area for one of the hotels and the guy setting up the sunbeds woke me up. I was gutted until he told me I could use them. Not sure if he knew if I was a resident or now.
I noticed the kayaks he had brought out as well and never one to push my luck 😉 I asked if I could use one. Apparently, the residents have to pay for them but he was happy for me to use away! Got to love the islanders, this fella has saved me a fortune!

FINAL THOUGHTS
Being a beach bum Guam did attract me but I found that it’s more of a resort destination which makes travelling and doing activities difficult when on a budget.
