CANADA & U.S. PHOTO SERIES PT14
AUSTIN, TEXAS
Myself and John were out in Austin, in the crazy state of Texas and having an absolute blast.
I WOULD HAVE TO TRAVEL THE REST OF THE U.S. WITH A BROKEN METACARPAL
Americans have been nothing but friendly during my 3 months here and I was loving every bit of it but that was all about to change.
SIXTH STREET
As usual with a trip to Austin we headed to sixth street for a few drinks. This is street synonymous for good fun and drunken behaviour and it was no different tonight. It’s the perfect place for a pub crawl!
So, as you do, we started at one end and slowly made out way from one bar to the next, racking up the shots as we went. Texans are serious drinkers so we were in good company.
FRIENDS
Eventually we got talking to a group of locals who all seemed to be decent but the thing was, all the bars had started to close. Now, John being John (friendly) he offered the 4 of them to come back to our motel, a good idea at the time.
After a number of drinks and a bit of music we had a complaint (no surprises) so it was time to shut the party down and the others went on their way.

REALISATION
After doing the needful and getting rid of the bottles, I started to look for my camera so I could put it on charge. It didn’t take me long to figure out what had happened, it was gone. When the guard hurried everyone out, one of the locals must have pocketed it as it was sitting by the tv the entire time.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m lucky I had been regularly backing my photos up so I only lost what I took the night before. Still a shame but I can take losing the camera over a phone any day!
NEXT UP
As if that wasn’t bad enough, tomorrow it was Johns turn where he almost gets murdered! Click to read.!!!!!
