SETTLING INTO THE EAST COAST NICELY

I’ve always said this but it was more true here than anywhere else I’ve been, you always tend to make your best friends in the first few days of your travels.

MAGNETIC ISLAND SAW THE FIRST PROPER PARTY OF THE TRIP!

After meeting Harm in Singpore on my first day, Annabel introduced me to a chap wearing an Ipswich top. Not a great first impression but Ben was a top lad. He was hiring a car and driving down with the others so I was sure to bump into him.

WHERE IS MAGNETIC ISLAND?

MAGNETIC ISLAND

Magnetic Island is just off the coast to Townville and a stunning place to visit. If you don’t mind a party then be sure and stay at X Base Hostel, there are parties every night of the week. Ben and co were already here which was good as by the time I had arrived the party was in full flow!

I was kindly put into an all girls dorm by the hostel. Anyway, a few days were spent here generally drinking and chilling out, no doubt should have rented one of those pink cars and checked out more of the island!

New York, the final stop

AIRLIE BEACH

By this stage I had the girls in tow or possibly it was the other way around. The first thing we noticed when we arrived into Airlie Beach was how busy it was…it was the Oz equivalent of spring break.

We checked into Magnums Backpackers and after a night out went to book a Whitsundays tour. The Whitsundays is meant to be the one of the best sailing trips on the planet and with a visit the White Haven beach, which is constantly voted as one of the top 5 best beaches in the world!

SUMMED UP….

  • HIGHLIGHT – The nightlife
  • LOWLIGHT – Due to the nightlife I didn’t venture too far beyond the hostel
  • MVP – Ben
  • VISIT AGAIN – Nope, no need
  • RATING – 7/10

FINAL THOUGHTS

Looks like Australia is already shaping up to be a hell of a trip!
