MELBOURNE
3 MONTHS OF THE BEST IN MELBOURNE!
After experiencing so much in Australia little did I know the next few months but literally hanging around Melbourne would be a highlight!
2 HOURS LATER YOU’D BE KNEE DEEP IN JAEGERS…AND IT WOULD ONLY BE 11:30am
It goes to show and I’ve always said, it’s less to do with what you do but rather who you share it with.
WHERE IS URBAN CENTRAL HOSTEL?
3 months of the best in Melbourne
URBAN CENTRAL HOSTEL
Myself and Ben checked into Urban Central Hostel and although normally I don’t like to stay in bigger hostels but here I was just lucky to run into a group of really good people. You would walk into the bar at anytime of the day and bump into someone you knew. 2 hours later you’d be knee deep in jaegers and tequila but only if Casey Dean wasn’t playing that night!
FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL
By this stage we were signing up to everything and anything that was being held in in the city. Melbourne is a strange place when it comes to the weather and in the morning we couldn’t believe our luck. The sun was splitting the stones and it was pushing 40C! By the time we got there it was cold and wet which summed up Melbourne perfectly.
The day didn’t just turn out the way it was planned for me as I was either spiked or the heat got to me, of course I wont be blaming the drink but I can just remember someone saying in the train, “I wish I was in that fella’s state.” A reminder of one of my nights in Thailand.

FORMULA 1
There might not be the beaches here in Melbourne to rival much of the rest of the country. But it’s for sure the sports and events capital of the island. Not only does it host the Australian Open and the Melbourne Gold Cup but it also has Albert Park, home of the Australian Grand Prix.
Formula 1 isn’t the most exciting of sports since Schumacher departed but when in Rome and all that. Back during my ’08 Canada trip I attended the Montreal Grand Prix, yes it was never enthralling but you can’t not miss the biggest party in town!!
BIRTHDAY
Just a few days after the F1 it was my birthday and what better place to go to than Cushion, the namesake of my favourite club in Glasgow during my uni years! Usually with a group of friends like these you are well looked after but I was rather lead astray and again found myself in a heap in the hall.
Ben sick on Kai’s bed, an absolute highlight

JOHN FERNANDES
I had an old friend here who I done a bit of travelling in America with and to say we had been involved in a few sticky situations together would be an understatement! John and I have been through thick and thin, he was with me when I got robbed in Tijuana, held at gunpoint in Austin, broke my hand and almost got himself killed in the process. So it was for sure great to see him again!

I spent a total of 3 months in Melbourne and although we done pretty much everything the highlight will always remain the people in the hostel. There was a group of around 20 of us who became real close most of who I still keep in touch with.
