NANGYUAN ISLAND, KOH TAO
After a proper night was had at South East Asia’s biggest pub crawl we felt it was time to get out of the bar and do something worthwhile. We decided on visiting an island called Nangyuan which is only a few minutes on a taxi boat. Nangyuan is the only island in the world which has 3 separate islands connected by a sandbar, sounds good to me. The Americans are real adventurers and wanted to take a kayak. Fair enough for them but I had Rose in mine who was more than happy to chill at the back and watch me do all the work, ain’t that right rose! It was roasting hot and seemed to take us forever to get there, but knowing I still had to get back killed me!

WHERE IS NANGYUAN ISLAND?
We finally arrived, parked our kayaks and made our way towards the island’s most iconic viewpoint. Passing people who were making their way back down we soon noticed at least 1 in every 3 guys had cuts all over their legs. It wasn’t until I got near the top I seen why.

The path only goes as far at the big rocks at the top, and from there it’s a killer to get on to but you only live once and I didn’t paddle myself and Rose all this way for nothing. Fucking Americans were straight up there jumping about like a pair of monkeys! Once up there though, it’s worth it 100%, it’s the quintessential Koh Tao photo opportunity.
PIER JUMPING
On the way back I found a pier to stop at and jump off but it was more just to give me a rest! I had Rose’s GoPro in my hand while I was diving in and the force of the water took it out of my hand and straight onto my nose. I didn’t feel much but could tell there was something wrong by everyone’s reaction. Dinner with the Americans and a fella from my course called Jason tonight. Jason is 1 of the best wingmen I have ever met, the girls love him! He’s only over for a month or so but does the odd shift in the bar at the resort and knows all the girls who work there. He’s been over 4 or 5 times and knows the owners of bans, the biggest diving resort on the island.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Nangyuan Island is a must for everyone visiting Koh Tao, not just to give yourself a break from the social escapades but because it is absolutely stunning. There is a small bar and restaurant if you want to stay all day but expect to pay top dollar.
